US Sailing, the sport's National Governing Body, today announced the creation of a search committee to find the next leader of the US Olympic Sailing Team. The committee, which is comprised of US Sailing Association Board Members, US Sailing Foundation board members, Olympians, staff, a USOPC representative, America's Cup sailors, and more, will conduct the global search for the next Vice President of High Performance.

This broad and diverse search committee is part of a comprehensive search process that includes several important steps and stakeholders from across the sailing community participating in a variety of ways.

The job description has been reviewed by staff, athletes, and the USOPC. Including a broad cross-section of stakeholders ensures that important voices are truly heard and will result in a clearer and complete list of the job requirements necessary for leading a high-performance team in today's world. The collaboration so far has included valuable comments from many and demonstrates the importance of inclusiveness. A diverse screening committee consisting of additional staff and leaders in the sailing community will review resumes, ensuring that even more voices are heard in this important process.

While dozens of sailing community members have already expressed interest, the global search continues. Having such a broad and diverse search committee, as part of a larger comprehensive selection process, will enable US Sailing to take learnings from the past to find the best suited next leader of Olympic High Performance and set up future success in high performance sailing for the United States.

Members of the Search Committee include:

  • Brian Keane: US Sailing Foundation Chairman
  • Sarah Lihan: US Sailing Board Member, Olympian, Sailor Athlete, and Interim Co-Head of Olympic department
  • Linda Lindquist-Bishop: US Sailing Foundation Board Member, Management Consultant, World Champion/America's Cup Sailor
