The famous and prestigious Rolex Fastnet Race will be raced for the 50th anniversary this year. This race is like no other with a big fleet, potentially challenging winds and some of the most challenging tidal conditions globally.
It makes the Fastnet truly a navigators' race. It challenges Skippers and Navigators to make decisions on extremely tricky situations - such as whether to head offshore for pressure or tuck inshore to avoid the worst of an adverse tide.
This year the Fastnet will again finish in Cherbourg. The last section involves negotiating the notorious Alderney Race, with currents of up to 9 kts.
Competitors who have the most accurate data on hand will make the best possible decisions for the fastest route.
