GOST® announces Universal Control Unit

GOST® (Global Ocean Security Technologies), a world leader in marine security, tracking, monitoring and video surveillance systems, announced its Universal Control Unit (UCU), used with its GOST Apparition IDP and NT Evolution IDP, to be fully compatible for hardwired inputs for up to 192 zones.

The Universal Control Unit has traditionally been known for its full wireless sensor capabilities, simplifying GOST’s product line installations for marine electronics dealers and boat builders, as well as offering the capability of security, monitoring, tracking and surveillance, integrated together in one system. However, the UCU continues to remain a great option for customers that want to hardwire GOST systems. Whether the UCU is being used on a high-end center console, sportfish or a superyacht, this platform can operate over both cellular and Inmarsat Geostationary Satellite networks, allowing for true global coverage.

Hardwiring a system is always a preferred option to reduce operator battery maintenance, it also lends itself nicely to the refit market with contact sensors and wire runs are already installed.”

Including a full-function app for offsite control to arm/disarm and control relay switches while allowing alerts via push notification and SMS text message, the UCU comes with an 4G LTE GSM Module for communications such as alerts and arm and disarm functions. Local arming features still include the ability to do so via key fob or optional user friendly 5- or 7-inch touchscreen keypads. Additionally, the UCU can work with any existing internet onboard via its third party CAT5 ethernet plug, as GOST recognizes that many boats already have internet and there is no need to pay for a second cellular/VSAT connection.

The next generation UCU can communicate with up to 32 wireless sensors, 5 relays and 32 users/key fobs. The system includes wireless completely independent door/hatch contacts, infrared beam sensors, deck pressure sensors, high water sensors, DC battery low voltage, AC shore power loss and smoke detectors. It can also have wireless relay outputs for control of light switches, additional sirens, and more. The Universal Control Units com bus can be interfaced to an eight-zone hardwired expansion and have multiple expansion modules if more zones needed. It is powered by a 12-32VDC primary power supply with additional backup battery.
