The Boat Works has become the latest marina to be awarded the coveted 5 Gold Anchor accreditation by the Marina Industries Association (MIA).

Conveniently located at the Gold Coast Marine Precinct, The Boat Works is an ideal pit stop for vessels cruising the east coast from Melbourne or Sydney to the tropical Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef. The 110-berth marina positioned on the Coomera River offers visiting vessels deepwater access in protected waters. The Boat Works is also home to one of the largest Shipyard & Marina facilities in the Southern Hemisphere, covering two yards and spanning more than 55 acres, this impressive shipyard can handle up to 500 vessels at a time.

While presenting their accreditation, Suzanne Davies MIA CEO praised the marina: "5 Gold Anchors is among the highest accolades that the industry awards and is reserved for marinas which offer their customers consistently high standards of service and facilities. The Boat Works is known for its commitment of delivering high quality marine infrastructure and is a leader in the services and facilities it provides for all vessels from 30 feet through to superyachts. They are a worthy recipient of the 5 Gold Anchor accreditation."

After being awarded the 5 Gold Anchor accreditation Shane Subichin, The Boat Works General Manager said, "This award is wonderful achievement for our facility, marine trade partners and crew. Our success is only possible from the commitment and dedication of our team, whose priority is to provide the highest level of service within our clean and green facility."

The Boat Works has recently announced the start of a $30 million Stage 5 expansion doubling the size of its Superyacht yard, with Subichin commenting "The Boat Works will keep raising the bar and expanding to accommodate demand, reinvesting within the facility on additional major marine infrastructure ".

The Global Gold Anchor is an international accreditation which requires a rigorous assessment of a marina's services, procedures and facilities. It involves an independent audit of 86 criteria across all areas of the business plus a customer survey. The accreditation aims to inform consumers as to the level of services and facilities at marinas and to provide marinas with a set of benchmarks to maintain and a pathway for continual improvement.

With the growth in popularity of the Asia Pacific region with superyacht owners, the MIA is also pleased to announce that The Boat Works has also been awarded the Superyacht Ready accreditation. Superyacht Ready is available to Global Gold Anchor accredited marinas that satisfy the program's assessment standards. The Superyacht Ready criteria is based around the suitability of the marina's infrastructure to accommodate superyachts, accessibility for superyachts, security measures and service availability.

Davies explains, "Superyacht Ready indicates that the marina is equipped to provide berthing for a superyacht and the Gold Anchor rating will give an insight into the extent of the facilities available at the marina, the service levels and the overall ambiance and opulence that one can expect. As a Superyacht Ready and 5 Gold Anchor Marina, The Boat Works is certainly making a statement to superyacht captains and owners."

Davies further commented, "The MIA's focus is to grow the Gold Anchor program and build awareness of the accreditation with the boating public, we are very excited by The Boat Works successful accreditation and encourage more marinas to join the program."
