MV Astra was originally built to serve in the Swedish Sea Rescue Society and spent her working life in some of the most demanding sea conditions anywhere on the planet.

She faced an unparalleled challenge in undertaking a 'Round the world circumnavigation (via the Capes) on an owner/skippered full displacement motorboat of less than 24 metres', this was to be a world first.
