For five years, Knoxville native Capt. Shaun Curtis successfully managed and captained the on-water towing and assistance port for recreational boaters, TowBoatUS Fort Loudon/Tellico Lake, before he headed to Alabama last year to take the helm as owner of the TowBoatUS port in Mobile, Alabama. Now Curtis is back in the Knoxville region, but this time as the owner of TowBoatUS location he formerly managed.

"An opportunity presented itself to come back to my home," said Curtis, "and we are going to make TowBoatUS Fort Loudon/Tellico Lake better than ever. I'm glad to be back!"

Curtis' towboats are part of a nationwide fleet of more than 600 response vessels at more than 300 TowBoatUS locations that respond to more than 90,000 requests for on-water assistance - towing, ungrounding, battery jump and fuel drop-offs - each year.

Much like an auto club for recreational boat owners, Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) offers annual on-water Unlimited Towing Memberships for freshwater boaters and anglers for just $99 per year. Members receive more than 25 BoatUS benefits including discounts at local fuel docks and transient slips at marinas. Also offered is a subscription to BoatUS Magazine, free DSC-VHF radio registration and more.

All of Curtis' captains are U.S. Coast Guard-licensed. Separate from routine BoatUS on-water towing services, the company offers boat salvage, environmental remediation, vehicle recovery and dive services.

The fastest way to request assistance from TowBoatUS Fort Loudon/Tellico Lake is to download the free BoatUS App, which connects boaters to the closest local towing captain. Additionally, the company can be reached at 865-304-0569, or by phoning the BoatUS toll-free 24/7 Dispatch Center at 800-391-4869.
