XVl Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja - Day 2

by Prensa Sailing Comunicación 26 Jan 13:12 PST 24-28 January 2024

The second day of the Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja 2024 has again been conditioned by the little wind, arriving late, complicating the work of the committee and setting the tone in the planned racing program. It has been possible to close the four groups, in terms of the first and only race completed. The Yellow and Blue groups have been able to sail a little more, as they have completed two races of race two, the other two groups: Red and White should close their races tomorrow.

At this moment the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Esmeralda groups should already be talking about starting the final series tomorrow, but this is not going to be possible. If tomorrow the committee can close two races for all the groups, the final series could be sailed on Sunday. To do so, 10 races must be completed, 2 for the groups that have been left pending today and another two complete races (8 races).

With the only race completed, Spain leads the ranking thanks to the partial victories of Lluc Garcés (GE N. Roses), Iker Múgica (CN Cambrils), Pablo López (RCN Valencia), who is also the first in SUB13, and the Turkish Mehmet Erkut Budak. All of them have been the first to take the finish line in their respective groups. The first female in the table, for the moment, is the Swedish Cornelia Baldock Frost (LSS), placed 13th overall, after achieving a 4th place in the yellow group.

In the SUB13 and next to the Valencian López, are Izán Rogel (RCN Torrevieja) and Baker Arthur Bear (CN Jávea). In females, the Sevillian Mercedes Medel (CN Sevilla), while Alexandra Youji Wangliu (RCN Valencia) is second followed by the Ukrainian Ahnieshka Madonich (Optimist Way / SVOC).
