The Sydney International Boat Show attracted an attendance of almost 47,000 visitors in 2023, with crowds immersed in a spectacular showcase of hundreds of boats and marine products, world and national launches, ground-breaking marine technology and showstopping entertainment.

With only four months to go until the 2024 Show, and consumer demand across the boating industry buoyant, there has never been a better opportunity to participate and connect brands with highly engaged, qualified visitors. Presented by the Boating Industry Association Ltd in conjunction with event delivery partner Mulpha Events, the four-day show will take place from August 1-4 and will be set amongst Sydney's iconic Darling Harbour.

Also in Sydney, at Pittwater, visitors can view all the new yachts from Jeanneau, Beneteau, Excess, Grand Soleil, X-Yachts, Bavaria, Hanse, Dehler, Moody, Elan, and Viko over three days next month. This simultaneous event is a new initiative of the sailing industry in Sydney. Held over April 5-7, yachts will be available to step on board and even book in a test sail.

Sydney's Bobbin Head has a long-held tradition of welcoming locals to enjoy boating and the incredible location it has within the National Park. That tradition continues with a Boat Show on April 6-7. Everyone will be welcome to explore the displays of boats and all things relating to boats and even some wine and food stands. From kayaks to luxury yachts and boat clubs and shares there's an offering that suits every budget and will be great fun for all the family to enjoy.

TMG Yachts will bring a luxury lineup to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show during May 23-26. The event will feature an impressive display of luxury yachts, including the highly anticipated premiere of the PRESTIGE M48, along with the PRESTIGE 420 and the Lagoon 46.

From Groupe Beneteau, their respected dealer in Japan, Odyssey Marine, presented the popular Excess 11 at the Japan International Boat Show (March 21-24), offering great opportunities for visitors to further explore this amazing model. She offers comfortable living space as well as sensations of speed. Capable of making longer crossings, she will carry you to the most remote spots on the globe. The Excess 11 will also be exhibited at the upcoming Kansai Boat Show this April.

In Singapore, the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) is set to host the ICOMIA Boating Industry Conference on April 23-24, in conjunction with the dynamic Singapore Yachting Festival. The much-anticipated event will take place at the award-winning ONE degrees15 Marina Sentosa Cove. This inaugural Conference will focus on sustainable business practices essential for long-term growth and effective decarbonisation initiatives within the recreational marine industry.

Attendees can expect insightful presentations and lively panel discussions. From cutting-edge research to advancements in propulsion systems and infrastructure development, the Conference aims to explore strategies which address the industry's distinctive challenges in Asia's evolving markets.

From Asia, Ocean Cleanup has deployed its first Interceptor™ river cleanup solution in the Chao Phraya River, Bangkok - part of a wider partnership to tackle plastic pollution leaking from one the world's busiest working rivers. Together with partners The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, The Coca-Cola Company, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Bangkok, Ecomarine, Asimar, and Chulalongkorn University, the project will see Interceptor 019 extract trash while helping us learn more about plastic pollution in Bangkok's rivers and canals.

Sailors will be please to know that as entries continue to flow in, Whitsunday Sailing Club has announced that Ocean Dynamics and Mount Gay Airlie Beach Race Week is going off the grid and green, courtesy of event support sponsor, Mobile Power Trailers. Proudly Australian, Mobile Power Trailers provides pioneering, cutting edge portable power solutions with its advanced solar and batteries trailers. The trailer-mounted systems are slim-lined, offering portable renewable power that folds away effortlessly for transport. All power trailers are customisable and made to order.

Eight Bells Andrew Plympton: Our great sailing friend, raconteur, business associate, administrator, chairman and successful past president of two sports, passed away on Sunday after a long battle with cancer - he was 74. At this point, Plymo might say, "I'm glad I've finally kept you idiots waiting."

Variously also known as 'Cheese' (check the smile), 'Prez' and 'Admiral', Plymo was the longest serving president of Australian Sailing (where he was made a Life member), a past president of St Kilda Football Club, an AFL administrator, a member of the Australian Olympic Committee executive (2009-2017), was a board member of Sport Australia Hall of Fame up to his death, and past Commodore at Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club, where he sailed Couta boats.
