Sixth lift to keep pace with demand

by The Boat Works 4 Aug 2024 22:00 PDT

The Boat Works will soon add to its complement of lifting/haulout machines, another new 100-tonne Marine Travelift to arrive from the US by the end of 2024.

The new variable width 100-Tonne Marine Travelift will bring the total to six haul-out machines operating over the two Boatyards, hauling out every type of vessel up to 300-tonnes.

With four-wheel steering and a beam capacity up to 9.65m, the new machine will assist with vessels up to 100-tonnes, including wide-beam multihulls.

"This is another major investment in machinery that we need to keep pace with demand from vessels of all sizes, from all over Australia, Asia and the South Pacific," said General Manager, Shane Subichin.

"Our customers can be sure The Boat Works has the equipment and the expertise among our team to haul out their boats with care, safety and to schedule, making the most of their time on-site for maintenance or refit works," added Clint Cooper, Operations Manager.

The Marine Travelift patented All-Wheel Electronic Steering provides the fastest speeds and safety features in the industry and is capable of functioning under full load. With five steering modes, this system maximises the versatility and precision of the machine in confined yard spaces.

The newest Marine Travelift will join the existing fleet of six machines that consist of the 100-Tonne Marine Travelift, 45 Tonne Sealift, 70-Tonne lift, 300-Tonne Travelift and the 90-Tonne variable-width machine from Boat Lift in Italy - the first of its kind in Australia.

The Boat Works facility boasts the largest concentration of marine trades on site and is recognised as World-class leaders in marine service. Hauling out over 3,000 vessels annually, we have set industry standards. The largest industrial site on the Gold Coast across 55 acres, the facility features comprehensive marine infrastructure, including 70 individual refit sheds with up to 20 meters of air draft, 90 marine businesses servicing up to 500 boats both in and out of the water for refit and maintenance, as well as yacht sales.

In the past year, the Superyacht Yard has doubled in size through a major expansion program. The owner Tony Longhurst is now leading The Boat Works into a new era of service, pioneering revolutionary in-water, undercover chutes that are unique in the southern hemisphere. The two 100-metre long, covered, on-water chutes will provide controlled working environments for all projects, with complete privacy and protection from the elements.

In the lead up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games, as boat sales and yacht visitation numbers continue to rise, demand will only increase.

"The Boat Works is well prepared to handle vessels from trailerable size to large superyachts," said Shane. "Our expert team is qualified and motivated to make sure boats are handled and hauled out efficiently so their maintenance schedule runs smoothly from the start."
