The 4th annual Australia Fiji Rendezvous, 22 to 24 August, brought together 18 Australian marine businesses and Fiji superyacht industry proponents at Port Denarau Marina.

In the idyllic island setting, the event is an opportunity to strengthen connections between the international superyacht community to foster and develop long-term relationships that will be mutually beneficial.

Steve Fisher, Rivergate's Director of International Business and Brandon Hoy, Rivergate's Hardstand Manager attended this year's event and were impressed with the progress in superyacht infrastructure.

The traditional Rivergate Marina & Shipyard VIP Captains' Lunch was held Thursday at Sails Denarau, overlooking the Port Denarau superyacht marina. Captains were thankful for the occasion to socialise and exchange information about Australian yards, provisioning and support services on the ground and the allure of the diverse cruising grounds that make a visit to Australia so worthwhile.

Friday's activities featured a Crew Cocktail Making Lesson and a Crew Networking Party, where Fijian Coconut Vodka was the featured spirit. Previously a speaker at the ASMEX Conference, Bula Coffee Founder, Luke Fryett shared his inspiring story about the creation and growth of the business. As a colourful send off, VOU Dance Fiji and a local band provided the entertainment.

"Many vessels were out cruising with owners or charters, but the crew who were onshore enjoyed the social events and learning that there's more to Australia than Bundaberg Rum and kangaroos!" observed Steve Fisher.

"It was interesting to see Nawi Island Marina adding to Fiji's offering," Steve continued. "It has always been a Port of Entry, but now it has a dedicated marina for vessels up to 85-metres, which is a positive for the region."
