Marine Careers and Jobs Campaign continues to build strength © Boating Industry Association

August was a record month for the BIA in our efforts to shine a spotlight on the range of employment opportunities in the marine sector, attending several events and hosting multiple groups of academics, students and job seekers.

In just the past four weeks, BIA has hosted 700 students at the Sydney International Boat Show and has guided our largest single school cohort through the Gold Coast Marine Precinct.

Industry representation included exhibiting at the 3-day Manufacturing Skills Queensland Roadshow, Experience Gold Coast Education 'Let's Connect' Networking Event and celebrating the outstanding career achievements of The Industry School's CEO, Mark Hands.

For the first time, Griffith University visited the Coomera Precinct to hear about the amazing work that is being undertaken by local businesses, kindly arranged by marine media identity and journalist Jeni Bone.

Hunter Region activities

If you are a business in the Hunter Region, Education NSW is seeking support from marine businesses that can offer 3-days work experience as part of their Float Your Boat program. There are currently 20 young people looking for opportunities to see what a career in the marine industry is like. Please contact Gary Sewell () if you can assist.

Gold Coast activities

The 2024 Gold Coast Marine Jobs and Careers Expo is to be held this coming Saturday 9 from 2pm. The BIA is looking forward to supporting AIMEX, Superyacht Australia and ACMG in this event, which is being held on the Coomera Marine Precinct waterfront between Gold Coast City Marine, Riviera Marine and The Boat Works.
