A boat's steering wheel is arguably the most handled component on a boat, so it's important that it conveys a sense of quality and offers a comfortable, natural grip. That's why the new Schmitt Marine Vision and Primus models make such great additions to any dash or console. Ideal for runabouts, center consoles and second steering stations on large yachts, the wheels debut at IBEX, 1-3 October, Tampa, Florida, USA, booth 3-1905.
Manufactured using unified investment casting, the Primus and Vision wheels are exceptionally strong. Gleaming 316L stainless steel not only provides a classic marine appearance but is virtually maintenance-free. Both install on an industry-standard 19mm tapered shaft for maximum rigidity. NMMA type-accepted and CE certified, they exceed ABYC P-22 and ISO 8848 standards. Plus, Schmitt Marine backs the wheels with a lifetime warranty for corrosion and structural integrity.
The Vision wheel model 7181321FGK has been completely redesigned to incorporate Schmitt Marine's renowned stainless steel glass ball bearing Control Knob. The addition provides a lifetime of free-spinning operation and easy one-handed boat handling. Offered in 34cm and 39cm diameters, it features a classic three-spoke design and a 22 degrees dish for ample offset.
Based on the renowned Primus wheel, model 7431321FGK has a solid 34cm top rim with a black UV-resistant Santoprene rubber finger grip insert underneath. Combined with the generous 28mm rim size diameter, it greatly reduces hand fatigue common with thinner styles. The Primus is available in three spoke configurations: slotted with Santoprene inserts, open slots or solid. This wheel is also available with a Control Knob.
