Following Election Day 2024, Frank Hugelmeyer, President and CEO of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), released the following statement: "Recreational boat, marine engine and accessory manufacturers are united in our mission to ensure the growth and success of our nation's $230 billion recreational boating economy.

The American Sportfishing Association, the trade association for the recreational fishing industry, looks forward to a productive partnership with the Trump Administration, working toward policies that will support conservation efforts, promote angler access, and encourage economic growth within the $148 billion recreational fishing sector.

The International BoatBuilders' Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) announced that the IBEX Education Conference call for proposals has opened. The Conference will offer world-class training, workshops, and technical seminars October 7-9, 2025, in the Tampa Convention Center. The Conference serves a marine industry audience with content related to technical issues, industry management and leadership, and exhibitor or association focused training. Presentation proposals should focus on identifying emerging trends, innovations, and topics in the marine industry today.

The National Women's Sailing Association (NWSA) and Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) have opened nominations for the 2025 BoatUS/NWSA Leadership in Women's Sailing Award. Since 1999 the national award has sought to recognize an individual with a record of achievement in inspiring, educating and enriching the lives of women through sailing. Past recipients have included sailing instructors, writers, sailboat racers and cruisers, marine industry professionals and boating club leaders from a wide variety of professions.

Sail America is pleased to announce this year's Annapolis Boat Show's "Best in Show" awards in five different categories. The awards were presented at the annual Industry Meeting on October 11 at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel, Maryland, as part of the US Sailboat Show. The breakfast meeting brought together over 100 sailing industry professionals and was sponsored by Annapolis Boat Shows. In addition to the Best in Show awards, the agenda included presentations on Sail America initiatives, and the Sail America Industry Conference.

Sail Canada is proud to introduce its new Board of Directors for 2024-2025, following the Annual Meeting that was held virtually last week. Two new members have been elected to the Sail Canada Board of Directors, Martha Henderson from Toronto, ON, and Hugh Goodday from Chester, N.S. They will join current members Kate MacLennan, Chair of the Board of Directors, as well as directors at large Torstein Braaten, Barbara Pike, Valérie Lavigne and Fiona Cochrane, in addition to Athlete Directors Rob Hemming and Mariah Millen.

Technology news: Meteomatics, the global leader in weather intelligence, looks at how their data integration supports digital navigation for boaters. For the past century, weather monitoring tools have been used to protect lives at sea by helping navigators to avoid dangerous conditions. Today, digital navigation apps providing real-time information, weather updates, and interactive maps are transforming the way sailors plan and execute their journeys.

Stay diligent,
