The 48th Palamós Christmas Race, the traditional Christmas season international regatta taking place from December 18 to 22 in the waters of Palamós Bay (Girona), will, for the second consecutive year, open the 29er EuroCup circuit. This season's circuit will feature eleven regattas across Europe.

The international regatta will mark the start of a season featuring eleven events, culminating at Lake Garda.

The International 29er Class, a stepping stone to the Olympic 49er and FX classes, has once again selected the Palamós Christmas Race as the ideal event to kick off its circuit. Recognized by both World Sailing and Eurosaf, the Christmas Race is considered the first regatta of the season.

In recent years, the Palamós Christmas Race has made a significant commitment to strategic and developmental classes, emphasizing the 29er class, which has become one of its signature events.

The 29er EuroCup circuit will include the following stages:

  • Palamós (December)
  • Valencia (February)
  • JK Jadro Koper - Slovenia (March)
  • Carnon - France (April)
  • GKSS - Sweden (May)
  • Kamperland/Roompot - Netherlands (May)
  • Lake Lipno - Czech Republic (May)
  • Kieler Woche - Germany (June)
  • Alsóörs - Hungary (September)
  • Warnemünde - Germany (October)
  • Lago di Garda - Italy (November)

A total of 36 boats in the 29er class will compete in the 48th Palamós Christmas Race, with 24 teams in the male/mixed category and 12 in the female category. In the male category, the Swiss crew of Ilke Huber and Liam Berger, third-place finishers in the 2024 29er EuroCup, will be among the participants.

In addition to the 29er class, the participating classes in the 48th Palamós Christmas Race are the ILCA 4, ILCA 6 (Male and Female) and 420 (Male/Mixed and Female).

The Palamós Christmas Race is held from 18th to 22nd December organised by Club Nàutic Costa Brava - Vela Palamós, with the support of the Spanish and Catalan Sailing Federations as well as the institutional support of the Catalan Government, Girona Provincial Council and Palamós City Council. The regatta is proudly certified for sustainability as a Clean Regatta by Sailors for the Sea and keeps its strong commitment to sustainability and making a positive impact in the environment.
