On May 6, NMMA Northeast Government Relations Manager, Sam Romano, testified before the Pennsylvania Senate Game and Fisheries Committee in strong support of the state's recreational marine industry. The hearing focused on the economic impact of the recreational marine industry in the Commonwealth.
Romano highlighted the critical role recreational boating plays in Pennsylvania's economy, generating $4.5 billion annually and supporting over 16,300 jobs and 557 businesses.
"This is an industry made in America," said Romano in her testimony. "95% of boats sold in the U.S. are built here. What's more, boating remains an accessible form of recreation—61% of boat owners have an annual household income of $75,000 or less, and 95% of boats are under 26 feet and trailerable."
