Australian Sailing releases strategic plan update - MarineBusinessWorld Oceania newsletter

Australian Sailing has released the 2025 update of its SAILING 2032 Strategic Plan, outlining progress across key initiatives designed to grow and support the sport nationally.

The report highlights achievements across the strategic pillars of Grow and Support, as well as delivery of critical Foundation Projects. Now in its third year of the Strategic Plan, Australian Sailing continues to partner closely with clubs, class associations, Discover Sailing Centres and volunteers to deliver ambitious goals by continuing to grow sailing by leading, inspiring and supporting sailors and their communities.

With 80 years under its belt, Australia's most iconic aluminium boat brand, Quintrex, marks a major milestone - celebrating eight decades of innovation, craftsmanship, and unforgettable adventures on the water. Founded in 1945 in Sydney by Terry Quantrill, Quintrex began as a bold vision shared by two passionate entrepreneurs. What started as a modest operation has grown into a household name, recognised and trusted by generations of Australian boaties.

Beneteau, Excess Catamarans, and Lagoon Catamarans are pleased to announce their participation in the highly anticipated Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS), set to take place May 22-25 on Queensland's Gold Coast. They will showcase an impressive fleet of ten models at this prestigious event, hosting two Asia-Pacific Premieres: the Beneteau Antares 9 and the Lagoon 43, as well as one Australia Debut: the Excess 14.

The BIA will be attending over 30 schools and careers events over the next three months. The first of these events took place over the last week, with two in-school events aimed at introducing the marine industry to Years 11 and 12 in QLD. In SA, BIA will be attending the Adelaide Careers Expo, while the Gold Coast BIA team will be attending the Gold Coast Careers Expo where more than 40 schools with 5000 students are expected to attend the two-day event.

In Victoria, Boating Careers and the BIAV have a packed calendar of career expo attendances. This week the South East Careers Expo at Sky, hosted by the Local Learning and Education Network (LLEN), is expected to attract over 5,000 students. The students will be exposed to a wide range of career options across the multi-acre indoor/outdoor site. Boating Careers will be there in force to showcase the many opportunities our industry offers students, as well as teachers and career advisors.

Lightweight, fuel-efficient, and safe-to-maintain: Team Malizia, led by world-renowned skipper and climate advocate Boris Herrmann, has unveiled a pioneering hybrid-electric propulsion and energy system aboard its IMOCA 60 race yacht. Set to compete in the upcoming The Ocean Race Europe, the yacht is one of the first in the IMOCA class to integrate an electric drive system—pushing the boundaries of sustainable offshore racing by minimizing reliance on fossil fuels.
