The owners, captains and crews of the spectacular array of yachts gathered for the 29th edition of the Superyacht Cup Palma are making their final preparations ahead of the start of racing next Thursday.

With the regatta's new home base in the prestigious Club de Mar-Mallorca, the race crews aboard the 11 yachts entered are now able to size-up the competition in their respective classes — which have just been announced — at Europe's longest running superyacht festival of sail.

In a competitive Class A the Hoek Truly Classic duo of Atalante and Vijonara will renew their competitive acquaintance after racing each other last year, and will also have to contend with another 2024 returnee the 39m Tripp designed Cervo.

In the same class mix as well are two SYC first-timers — the Farr designed Southern Wind yacht Gelliceaux and a third Hoek design the Truly Classic 128 Linnea Aurora. All in all an exciting combination of style and speed.

"It is great to be going up against our friends and rivals from last year once again," said Tony Rey, a member of Vijonara's afterguard. "It's also exciting to greet some new competition which always brings something fresh and perhaps unexpected to the mix.

"We were fortunate to get the better of Atalante in 2024, but we know we will have to work just as hard again if we are to have any chance of a repeat," he added.

Meanwhile, Class B presents a range of intriguing possibilities and outcomes, not least that the 24m Wally yacht Rose, who successfully defended her overall 2023 SYC title last year, could become the event's first ever three-time winner.

To do so she will have to overcome the doubtless formidable opposition presented by a quartet of Baltic 68 Café Racers — namely Ganesha, Hormar, Open Season and Pink Gin Verde — and another 24m sloop, the Y8 Sveam making her first ever regatta appearance.

Rose's captain Ben Potter said: "It probably goes without saying that the last two years have been really exciting, with great racing along the way.

"Can we do it again? Well we will give it our best shot, as will all the other yachts in our class and across the fleet. Win or lose it is going to be another memorable experience here at the Superyacht Cup Palma."

Also putting the final arrangements in place are SYC's event organisers. Event Director Kate Branagh said: "It is always one of the best moments of being part of an event like this when the yachts arrive and moor up, and owners and crews can catch-up and get ready for the racing ahead.

"Having our new Venue Partner Club de Mar-Mallorca has added a lot extra this year, and we are looking forward to a fabulous atmosphere ashore and at our varied social events."

Following registration, the Captain's Briefing and Welcome Cocktail party both get under way on the SYC Dock on Wednesday 25 June, while racing — courtesy of race management provided by the Real Club Náutico de Palma — is set to begin at 13:00 on Thursday 26 June with the Pantaenius Race Day.
