Melges is proud to announce the official U.S. launch of the Switch One Design, a cutting-edge foiling dinghy that's redefining accessibility and performance in high-speed sailing. As the official U.S. dealer, Melges will oversee national sales, support, and class growth for this rapidly expanding global one-design class.

The Switch was designed by Element 6 as a one-design high-performance single-handed foiling dinghy. The idea of the design is to bring quality sailing with top-tier equipment, in an affordable and attainable package, to a broad cross-section of sailors around the world.

The Switch is for everyone. Whether you are youth, a high-performance racer, or the recreational sailor who is seeking an adrenaline buzz. This is for you. It is designed to be easily transported and quickly assembled. With full carbon construction and multiple rig size options, the Switch offers an ideal platform for first-time foilers, experienced racers, and youth development programs.

"We're incredibly excited to bring the Switch to the U.S.," said Louisa Nordstrom, U.S. Dealer and representative for the class. "This boat is changing the game and making high-performance foiling racing more accessible — with top speeds over 30 knots, it's got the speed, but also the simplicity and fun of one-design sailing. I think the future of foiling is bright, and the Switch is the perfect platform to raise the level of foiling in the United States."

Key Specifications:

  • Rig options: 6.9 m² (Youth), 7.5 m² (Women's), 8.5 m² (Men's)
  • Upwind speed: >19 kts
  • Downwind speed: >30 kts
  • Foiling range: Begins flight in as little as 6 knots
  • Construction: Full carbon hull, rig, foils
  • Class status: Active international one-design class with growing global fleet
Already making waves in Europe and Australia, the Switch class is gaining momentum with fleets emerging in the UK, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, and now, the United States. The boat made a strong impression at Foiling Week 2025 on Lake Garda, showcasing 32 boats, 13 nationalities, 7 Olympic medals in Sailing, 25% of the fleet were women, and ages ranging from 19 to 64.
