Professional 24/7 on-water assistance for boaters and anglers on the Mississippi River Delta is now available with the opening of three new TowBoatUS ports. Capts. Kyle Potts and Chris Parker have opened TowBoatUS Lafitte, TowBoatUS Venice and TowBoatUS Grand Isle. The three towing ports bring the total number of Louisiana locations to five and are part of a nationwide fleet of more than 330 locations that help boaters get back to the dock or ramp safely after a breakdown.

Last year, across the country, the on-water assistance service responded to more than 110,000 requests for routine assistance from boaters experiencing mechanical breakdown (e.g., engine, transmission, drives), the No. 1 cause of calls.

Much like an auto club for recreational boat owners, Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) offers on-water Unlimited Towing Memberships for freshwater boaters and anglers for just $175 per year. Services include on-water towing, soft ungrounding, battery jump and fuel-drop offs. Membership comes with more than 25 valuable BoatUS benefits, including discounts at local fuel docks and transient slips at marinas. Also included are a subscription to BoatUS Magazine, free DSC-VHF radio registration and more.

TowBoatUS Lafitte has an 18-foot airboat and a 22-foot red response vessel homeported at Jean Lafitte Harbor. A 25-response vessel is stationed at Venice Marina, while a 31-foot Pursuit response vessel at Bridge Side Marina in Grand Isle helps speed response times for offshore anglers requiring routine assistance.

Separate from BoatUS on-water towing, the company also offers boat salvage, spill cleanup and dive services.

To request on-water assistance, boaters can call the BoatUS toll-free 24/7 Dispatch Center at 800-391-4869, call any of the three ports directly at 504-514-6853, or hail on VHF radio Ch. 16.
