Egret returns boat production headquarters to Florida

by Egret Boats 16 Aug 05:42 PDT

'The Egret Flats Boat,' well-known for its efficient hull design, self-bailing features, and soft ride has returned its entire production line to Florida.

Established in the 90's in Ft. Lauderdale, Egret has changed ownership twice over the decades. Building on the success of the first two models, the 189 and the 167, previous owner Frank Afshari expanded the fleet to seven different models at his production facility in Washington, North Carolina. Afshari owned the company for over twenty years, positioning Egret at the top of its class.

Fast forward to present day, and Egret boats remain beloved and sought after by anglers across America. While used models can be found on the secondary market through owners and dealers, new and custom built Egret boats have been elusive these past few years, leaving the online angling community to wonder.

After purchasing the company in 2024, the new owners in St. Augustine assembled an elite team of fabricators, marine techs, and finishers, and are pleased to announce that active operations are under way in the new Egret Headquarters, located at 620 S. Holmes Blvd. in St. Augustine, Florida.

Although primarily used for competitive and hobbyist flats fishing, Egrets are suitable for yacht owners who wish to match the quality of a large vessel with her tender. While the 16 foot is the smallest and lightest, all Egret models are engineered to be towed and lifted easily. Highly versatile Egrets are also ideal for families who enjoy spending recreational time on the water.

The company is currently accepting orders. Pricing varies based on model, horsepower, and level of customization. Production times range from 3-6 months. Orders placed now are guaranteed to be delivered by Christmas. Egret is also taking orders for Spring 2026.

The new owners are committed to continuing the Egret legacy of quality, and making their boats Flat Out The Best. As Yamaha professional angler, and longtime Egret owner, Chris Cenci says, "An Egret is a lifelong boat."
