At CMC Marine's Monaco Yacht Show stand, the Italian pioneer in electric stabilisation with over 3,000 systems installed in the last 20 years, will be showcasing its flagship products for the super and megayacht industry: an LR250 stabilization system actuator, the largest electric stabilization system on the market; a Directa140 steering system, the only full electric steering system certified for vessels >500GT, and a TP160 thruster.
CMC Marine's two new solutions are focused on innovation and energy saving. The first is the Energy Recovery System, inspired by the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) originally developed for Formula 1 and now gaining traction in the yachting world. The system recovers the energy generated when the fin stabilizers are acting as brakes and reuses it during acceleration, resulting in a significant reduction in the number of power peaks the generators must handle and up to 30% less power consumption, while delivering excellent stabilization performance even at zero speed. The fins can therefore operate with only one generator in service, reducing noise, vibrations and emissions.
The second innovation is the new DC Hi Voltage configuration, which enables CMC Marine stabilisation systems and thrusters to operate with high voltage DC power. This solution is ideal for hybrid yachts or those equipped with battery packs and DC buses, in line with the evolution of the yacht industry towards electrification.
Stabilis Electra, the pioneering system that revolutionised electric stabilisation over 15 years ago, confirms its cutting-edge credentials by becoming the first stabilisation system compatible with high voltage DC bus technology.
