After 30 years of outstanding service to the marine industry, Peter Busfield has made the decision to transition from the office to the open water.

Peter will officially retire on 31 March 2026, but will continue to offer his expertise on a contract basis through to the end of 2026.

On behalf of the NZ Marine Board of Management, NZ Marine Executive, and myself, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Peter for his remarkable contributions and leadership. His dedication, along with the achievements of his team, has had a lasting impact on the industry as a whole.

We wish Peter all the very best for a well-earned retirement filled with exciting new adventures, quality time with family and friends, and plenty of time enjoying life on the water.

A celebration to honour Peter’s career will be held in the New Year. In the meantime, the Board of Management will begin the process of appointing a successor, with opportunities for staff and stakeholders to be involved in shaping the future leadership.

Tracey Stevenson
President NZ Marine Industry Association
