New Clean Marinas celebrated

NZMOA was delighted to welcome two more marinas into the Clean Marina program as fully certified Level 3 Clean Marinas at the New Zealand Marina and Boatyard Conference in Queenstown this month.
They are Waiheke Marina and Orakei Marina, who join eight other New Zealand operations at the top level of the program.
This top-tier accreditation, recognises marinas for exceptional commitment to environmental best practices and sustainable operations.
For Orakei Marina it is the culmination of years of continuous improvement. Its team, led by Operations Manager Matt Bourne, has implemented advanced recycling programs, waste management systems, and enhanced water quality controls to achieve Clean Marina status.
For Waiheke Marina, the achievement underscores its foundational design principles. The marina, which opened two years ago, was designed to promote natural water flow and minimise disruption to the local environment.
"The Level 3 Clean Marina status is a mark of a marina's dedication to protecting New Zealand's coast and waterways," said an NZMOA Chair Chris Galbraith. "Both Orakei and Waiheke Marinas have demonstrated leadership by setting a high standard for environmental responsibility."
The growth of the Clean Marina program is also a testament to the industry's focus on environmental protection and responsible operations for the benefit of future generations.
Five more marinas are at Level 2 of the Clean Marina journey, and one, Viaduct Harbour Marina, has recently taken the Clean Marina pledge.
