Brownell Boat Stands & Equipment, manufacturer of the highest-quality, safest boat storage equipment on the market, now in its 71st year of operation, announced its new workshop Service Station has been awarded the 2025 IBEX Innovation Award in the Boatyard and Marina Hardware and Software category.
Each year, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) appoints a panel of expert judges selected from Boating Writers International (BWI) members to review new products and present the winners during the Industry Breakfast event, attended by hundreds of boat builders, dealers, and press.
"Go into almost any boat yard and you'll see Brownell's boat stands. Odds are that Brownell's new Service Station will soon be inside most boatyard workshops as well. The Service Station is designed to hold and manipulate lower units, stern drives, and small outboard engines for maintenance and repair. It can be articulated and locked at 45-degree intervals for easy access to the engine's various components. A separate tray can be attached to hold the tools and small components. The service station is built with typical Brownell quality; another reason it's a winner," said judge Pim Van Hemmen.
The modular Brownell workshop Service Station is comprised of a pedestal and rotating-mount, and can be fitted with either a lower unit and outdrive or outboard fixture. It can be mounted as a floor-mounted pedestal or as a bench-top unit and with 360-degree rotation can fit almost any shop space. Designed for easy balancing and maneuvering of lower units, outdrives and small outboards, the workshop Service Station is a versatile tool. The pedestal base can be rotated 360-degrees, while the t-mount can be fixed at 45-degree increments making it easy to manipulate bulky components. Adjustable handles allow for optimal leverage when locking and unlocking rotating sections and a positive locking pin gives added peace of mind, preventing accidental rotation of larger components or top-heavy outboards. The outboard fixture can accommodate outboards up to 200 pounds, while the lower unit and outdrive fixture has coarse and fine adjustment forks that can be locked in place from 6 to 15-inches wide. As an option, Brownell also offers a tool tray that will work with the pedestal mount, capable of holding tools, parts such as anodes, propellers, water pump components, consumables, and anything else the technician needs to complete the job.
"We're thrilled and honored to be recognized among so many innovative products at this year's IBEX and want to offer our sincere gratitude to all of the judges involved," said Alex Kavanaugh, president, Brownell Boat Stands. "Knowing the challenges that come with servicing outboards and outdrives, we've put a great deal of thought into the development of the Service Station. As with all Brownell products, our customers can count on the durability of the U.S.-made Service Station. We've never had a failure in 70 years and we're confident this will be a great addition to any shop or boatyard."
