This year's Metstrade is set to be the biggest yet with nearly 1,700 exhibitors and a record number of products exhibited. With such an extensive display of innovation, investing more time to explore this year's Metstrade will pay dividends. There is a particular focus on products which are leading the way in sustainability.

The sustainable innovations exhibited at Metstrade will span across all 13 halls of RAI Amsterdam for the first time in the show's history, highlighting the growth of the show and the quality of new products being introduced in the leisure marine market.

Expect to see boat building materials, propulsion and engine systems, electronics, decking, rigging, coatings, paints, maintenance products, life-saving equipment, fuel systems, filtration, accessories, fittings, marina infrastructure and much more. The core trend across the show and the exhibited products is innovation and sustainability.

Sustainable products, energy-saving tech, and alternative fuels

Alongside, Metstrade has introduced an extensive programme to spotlight products which reduces the environmental impact of the leisure marine sector.

Foiling is one example of an innovation which will feature across the show, including within the Foiling Technology Zone, where visitors can learn how this technology originally developed for racing can be used for recreational boats to improve efficiency and reduce fuel usage. This will extend to the superyacht sector, with a dedicated session at the Superyacht Stage to explore adoption of foiling for larger yachts.

Next Gen Zone

The Next Gen Zone is a dedicated space at the heart of the show floor (Hall 13), presenting trailblazing companies which are delivering practical solutions to reduce environmental impact across the sector. The zone features the Sustainable Innovation Hub, Royal 3D and the Next Generation Propulsion Showcase.

The Sustainable Innovation Hub, co-hosted by World Sailing and The Sustainability Toolbox, is turning waste into valuable resources through reusing, repurposing and recycling initiatives. The Hub showcases sustainable products and circular solutions with inspiring case studies from across the sector to encourage learning, connecting, and collaborating towards a more sustainable future. Take part in World Sailing's 'Product Circularity' benchmarking survey, explore innovative materials and design, and access free sustainability education resources and consultations from The Sustainability Toolbox team at Foxall Munro.

Royal 3D demonstrates how advanced 3D printing can transform recycled materials into functional, forward-looking products. The business is behind the creation of the new DAME Design Awards trophy and is constantly expanding the possibilities of additive manufacturing in the marine sector. The inspiration behind the DAME Design Awards trophy was the sail, as an enduring symbol of maritime elegance and the spirit of freedom. Printed using recycled thermoplastic sources from recollected plastics combined with repurposed wood from interior refit projects, each material used reduces environmental impact and gives the trophy a unique texture, story and example of responsible use. Visit Hall 13 for more excellence in the marine industry.

The Next Generation Propulsion Showcase, in collaboration with the International Electric Maritime Association (IEMA), will display the latest innovations in sustainable and advanced propulsion systems and has been expanded to cover more than electric and hybrid engines, with a spotlight on alternative fuelling, zero emissions and other solutions to make propulsion greener. Exhibitors and visitors can explore new solutions, exchange knowledge, and discuss pathways toward cleaner, smarter, and more efficient propulsion.

In addition, IEMA will feature two panel discussions on the Metstrade Stage. One of the sessions addresses the leisure marine industry's need to better understand data to drive progress and decision-making, whilst the "Silence and Sensation" panel session explores how noise and vibration affect comfort, fatigue, and is becoming a key market differentiator.

Superyacht Sustainability Route

Metstrade 2025 marks the fourth edition of the Superyacht Sustainability Route, a continued collaboration with Water Revolution Foundation to push the boundaries of sustainability in the superyacht industry. It forms part of the event's expanded programme for the thriving superyacht sector, which continues to grow and requires constant advancements to maintain this success.

The Superyacht Sustainability Route guides visitors through the show to see sustainable solutions that have undergone rigorous third-party Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) overseen by the Water Revolution Foundation. These verified solutions focus on improving efficiency, reducing environmental impact, enhancing corporate social responsibility, and minimising waste for both new and existing superyachts throughout their life cycle.

Patricia Becker, Exhibition Manager for Metstrade, said: "We are very excited about the innovations which will be on show at Metstrade. Every year, we are amazed at the new solutions developed in all corners of the world and there is a particular theme of sustainability running through the show."

Marine Impact Lab: Monday 17 November, RAI Amsterdam

The Marine Impact Lab is an immersive one-day workshop designed to fast-track sustainability across the leisure marine industry, supported by Metstrade, ICOMIA, World Sailing, Northern Lights Composites, The St. Maarten Heineken Regatta and 11th Hour Racing. Participants will be equipped with practical tools, strategic insights, and hands-on experience, driving measurable change towards a more sustainable future for the marine sector.

The Marine Impact Lab has confirmed its first wave of speakers for the product and design panel, which includes Will Hopes (BAR Technologies), Alessandro Stagni (Northern Lights Composites), Etienne Le Pen (Kairos), and Moritz Möker (Holy Technologies).

Together they will tackle the key challenges shaping the sector, from circular materials to sustainable design across the supply chain, and debate whether innovation is best pursued as a shared path or competitive edge.

Metstrade's sustainability drive

In addition to facilitating the inspiration to create sustainable products and championing existing innovators, Metstrade is committed to making responsible choices, including reducing single-use plastics and food waste, and sustainable stand design. This year, Metstrade has introduced a sustainable travel initiative. The 'Metstrain' is a dedicated Eurostar carriage from London to Amsterdam, exclusively reserved for Metstrade visitors, exhibitors and partners, enabling cleaner travel in a relaxed setting.

Driving success in the leisure marine industry

Metstrade 2025 continues the event's long-standing role as a reflection of the leisure marine industry it serves. Through thoughtful expansion, careful curation, and ongoing collaboration with sector partners, the show maintains its relevance across all segments of the leisure marine world. Whether visitors are focused on large yacht systems or everyday onboard essentials, Metstrade remains a pivotal moment in the industry calendar to connect, discover, learn, do business and enable even greater success for the years ahead.?
