ICOMIA and The Foiling Organization have signed a new strategic partnership to help the global boating industry adopt hydrofoiling in a safer, clearer and more coordinated way. The agreement was signed by Joe Lynch, CEO of ICOMIA, and Luca Rizzotti, President of The Foiling Organization.
ICOMIA is the voice of the recreational boating industry. The Foiling Organization unites the global foiling community and promotes foiling across racing, cruising and commercial applications.
The partnership focuses on six priorities: developing harmonised safety standards, creating shared industry data, publishing a white paper dedicated to showcasing the benefits in terms of consumption and comfort of foiling, developing training for professionals, increasing visibility through key events, and working with national marine associations to map foiling adoption around the world.
It’s a practical agreement designed to make foiling easier to understand, easier to maintain safety standards, and easier to adopt. By joining forces, the two organisations aim to give companies, regulators and professionals a clearer framework as this technology becomes more mainstream. The collaboration also seeks to inspire new initiatives, encourage innovation, and highlight the potential of foiling as a transformative technology for the marine industry.
Looking ahead to 2026, the two organisations will prioritise the first joint Foiling Market Report, launch the joint white paper and start coordinated outreach to national marine associations. The goal is to deliver concrete tools and clearer guidance for the industry within the next 12 months, helping foiling to expand efficiently across all markets.
Joe Lynch, CEO of ICOMIA, declared: “The Foiling Organization and ICOMIA have always been supportive of one another. Through this strategic partnership, we can now formally collaborate on the development of standards, promoting wider understanding of the many economic and environmental benefits that foiling can deliver to our industry. I am excited about the many additional benefits that this partnership will bring to our respective members.”
Luca Rizzotti, President of The Foiling Organization, declared: “This partnership gives the foiling sector the clarity and support it needs to grow. Working with ICOMIA will speed up standards, training and adoption worldwide. It also gives our community a stronger global platform and a direct connection to decision-makers and each National Member Organisation, shaping the future of the marine industry. Together, we can help foiling evolve with more structure, more data and more long-term vision.”
