With temperatures remaining unusually high across the UK, many of us are heading straight from work to the sailing club for an evening race or training session. While a couple of hours on the water might not seem like much, these conditions can be more intense than many sailors realise. Unlike being ashore, there is very little opportunity to escape the sun once you're afloat. Add the reflection from the water's surface and your exposure to UV and heat can increase significantly. As Brits, we're not always used to sailing in these temperatures, so it's worth taking a moment to think about a few simple precautions before launching.
