Dan-Bunkering joins African Boating Conference

by African Boating Conference 15 Jul 04:22 PDT 20-21 October 2026

The African Boating Conference (ABC) is proud to announce global marine fuel solutions company Dan-Bunkering as an official sponsor of the 2026 conference. The sponsorship reflects Dan-Bunkering's commitment to supporting the growth of Africa's superyacht industry.

Dan-Bunkering has developed specialisation in the African maritime market for over 40 years, working with some of the biggest players in the African continents value chain. As superyacht traffic to South Africa has increased over the past decade, Dan-Bunkering has supported the segment through partners and intermediaries. With this sponsorship, Dan-Bunkering is stepping forward more visibly to endorse the superyacht industry.

"Dan-Bunkering's involvement shows the increasing international interest in Africa's marine economy and the opportunities emerging across the continent," said Veda Pretorius, organiser of the African Boating Conference "Trusted fuel supply and strong marine services are essential if we want to attract more superyachts and support long-range cruising throughout Africa."

Built for superyacht operations

Superyachts generally have a very different operating pattern and require more flexibility than commercial shipping with regard to planning and service windows. In addition, fuel deliveries must be handled with care and exact specifications.

Dan-Bunkering supports this with flexible delivery planning, voyage support, and options that help manage market risks. Dan-Bunkering also offers tailored solutions and documentation that are aligned with each vessel's requirements and client's specifications in close collaboration with suppliers to ensure laycan is flexible.

Jon Hughes, Managing Director of Dan-Bunkering, Africa, stated:

"At Dan-Bunkering, we see the superyacht industry as far more than a marine fuel market. Every yacht that visits our shores supports local jobs, stimulates tourism, drives demand for technical and maritime services, and contributes meaningfully to the wider economy. By working together with industry partners through initiatives such as the ABC Conference, we can continue to raise Cape Town's profile on the global stage and attract more vessels to the region. We believe the long-term growth of the yachting industry in Southern Africa will be driven by collaboration, investment in infrastructure, and a commitment to delivering world-class service standards. The opportunity is significant, and we are proud to support efforts that position Cape Town as a leading destination for superyachts visiting the Southern Hemisphere."

The company's growing focus on Africa aligns strongly with the African Boating Conference's mission to position the continent as a world-class cruising and superyacht destination.

Operating from Cape Town and servicing more than 50 ports across Africa, Dan-Bunkering combines extensive regional expertise with a global delivery network and 24/7 support. The company supplies bunker fuel, marine lubricants, alternative fuels, and marine energy solutions to a wide range of vessel types, including ocean-going yachts and expedition vessels.

Strengthening Africa's marine value chain

Through partnerships such as this, the African Boating Conference brings together key stakeholders who can strengthen Africa's boating infrastructure and marine services. That work supports visiting yachts, encourages longer stays, and helps build a more competitive superyacht destination across the continent.

The African Boating Conference takes place in Cape Town on 20-21 October 2026. It will bring together marina developers, government representatives, marine-service providers, yacht-industry leaders and tourism stakeholders from across Africa and around the world.
