Early indications suggest that marine industry doing well this year | Superyacht and Marine Export Alley at SCIBS 2017 Mark Burgin | It's been a bit chilly in New South Wales lately and not only the weather. The political scene has not been exactly inspiring but it appears that the early analysis from both the Gold Coast Boat Show and Marine Expo and the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show indicate that buyer sentiment is on a high. Long may it last.

While on the subject of Boat Shows I forgot to mention the Perth Boat Show in last week's enews letter. The Perth International Boat Show will be a similar model to the Sydney Boat Show, utilising the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre and on-water displays. It will run from Friday 22nd September to Monday 25th September 2017 and will combine a Trade Show.

Marina developments have always caused a fair amount of discussion and sometimes angst from councils and others with either a vested or negative involvement. The developer of the Eden Marina and Eden Resort Hotel has released key findings of the Financial/Economic Analysis report, prepared for and delivered to the NSW Government. “The development at Cattle Bay will totally transform the town of Eden and become a focal point of the Sapphire Coast,” said Bob Carter, spokesperson for the Cattle Bay developers. The plan includes details of a 154 berth marina.

Power Catamarans continue to grow in popularity and this week we have a report from Cumberland Yacht Charter. CCY have launched a new level of unique luxury on water, catering to the ever-increasing demand for luxury yachts in the Whitsundays. The Aquila 44, “Aquila Sunrise” is the newest addition to Luxury Yachts Whitsunday power catamaran line up. The Aquila 44 features three spacious cabins all with ensuite, climate control and high-end finishes.

Another model in the Aquila range the 36, will be exhibited at the Sydney International Boat Show by Multihull Central. The Aquila 36 is an outboard powered sport catamaran, and as it's a catamaran, its beam width is carried from its bow to its stern, making its deck area larger than most 55 foot yachts. Well worth a look.

Power boat owners are always aware of fuel consumption and at the recent Melbourne Boat Show Honda announced the global debut for the BF75, BF80, BF90 and BF100 and the Australian debut of the new BF40 and BF50 Honda Marine Outboards with a fresh new look and some updated features. People on the move include Jono Morris who will be resigning as an employee of the Australian company McConaghy Boats, but will retain his long held role of Joint Managing Director and shareholder of MC2 Composites Limited and its subsidiaries. Morris, an accomplished sailor, has accepted an offer from Mark Richards, CEO of Grand Banks and Palm Beach Motor Yachts, as production coordinator at Grand Banks in Malaysia.
