Greater industry body cooperation, new products and new boats launched | Boating Industry Association (BIA) Boating Industry Association | From an industry perspective any cooperation within associations has to be a plus. So it was refreshing to hear that the Boating Industry Association has been in discussions with the BIA of Victoria to establish greater ties between the two organisations.
The Boating Industry Association Ltd operates in Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and the Northern Territory. President of the BIA Alan Blake has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with BIA Victorian President Mark Crockford.

Two boat shows still on the calendar are the Perth Show that runs from the 22nd until the 25th September, and the Auckland Show that runs from the 28th September until the 1st October. Both shows are on the water - Perth for the first time - and both will promote the boating lifestyle. Multihull Solutions will celebrate the inaugural Club Marine Perth International Boat Show by staging the West Australian premiere of the new MY 37 power catamaran by Fountaine Pajot Motor Yachts.

Plans are already in place for the east coast of Australia Boat Show circuit and the ASMEX Conference has announced its plans to again be at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in 2018 for its eighth edition.

New boat launches this week include the French-manufactured Arvor 555. Designed for the fisherman of the North Sea, the new 555 Sportsfish offers great affordability without compromise. Designed for a crew of five, the 555 Sportsfish has all the same design characteristics of the very distinctive Arvor Sportsfish range.

The first J/121 was launched in Rhode Island this week. Within 15 minutes the Southern Spars carbon deck-stepped mast was installed, shrouds pinned, and during the next few hours the rigging systems were assembled. By late afternoon, the design and build team, several suppliers and the new owner, were rewarded with a beautiful first sail on Narragansett Bay.

UK boat builder Oyster Yachts have launched the new Oyster 835 and 895. Designed to replace the successful Oyster 825 and 885 – 17 of which have been sold - the new Oyster 835 and 895 include features from the development of both the larger Oyster 118 (two sold) and the smaller models – the Oyster 565, 595, 675, and 745 – 16 of which have been sold.

In Australia Riviera has announced the best of the best among its Australian and New Zealand R Marine dealer network. Announcing the R Marine Dealer of the Year awards, Riviera Chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst said the judges had a difficult task in selecting one dealership.

Maritimo is set to showcase two of its most popular models at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival which kicks off the boat show season in Europe. Maritimo's CEO Garth Corbitt said the Cannes Yachting Festival, from September 12th to 17th, was a litmus test for the upcoming boat show season in Europe and the early indicators were that it would be a successful show.
