World Charter yacht market growth projected and Boat Show Premieres | FMI - Yacht Charter Market Pradnya Kulkarni | The worldwide yacht charter market is projected to grow at a steady rate over the next decade. This emergent worldwide sector is encouraging more companies to come into the market as well as also opting for hi-tech innovations in yachts and enhancing the services offered by the companies. The worldwide market is projected to witness a CAGR of 3.3 % to reach a market value of USD 637 million during the forecast period, 2016-2026.
After being lashed by a succession of gales and horizontal rain for the past few months, the Auckland On Water Boat Show opened with more summery conditions. Australian owned Riviera, one of the leading powerboat builders in the world, is actively marketing globally. Auckland this weekend and then Barcelona, Spain on the 11th October followed by the United States Powerboat Show in Annapolis that runs from the 12th October.

Four new boats will make their premiere appearances in Auckland, the 57 with enclosed flybridge plus the 4800, 5400 and 6000 sports yachts. Barcelona sees the unveiling of the 68 Sports while Annapolis will show the 4800 Sports Yacht for the first time in the US.

On the subject of US Boat Shows, The new J/121 made her show debut at the Newport International Boat Show, Rhode Island last weekend and took home the award for Best New Sailboat. It was a great way to kick off the official introduction of the J/121, but didn't compare to the tremendous reaction from the hundreds of sailors who were able to hop aboard, stand behind the wheels, move around the cockpit and wide decks, and take in all the latest thinking that's gone into this new J.

Marinas make the news again with an interesting development at Port Douglas. Australian tourism and hospitality group, Crystalbrook Collection, has announced its acquisition of The Reef Marina, which is now to be known as Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina, and its intention to invest a further $100+ million into the Marina. The group has announced that it intends to deliver to Port Douglas a world-renowned superyacht marina, a luxury waterfront 100-room boutique hotel, 50 premium residences and enhanced retail and dining areas.

In Sydney at the recent industry based Marine 17 Conference held at the new convention centre at Darling Harbour, the team at White Bay 6 Marine Park were proud to win a 2017 Marina Industries Association Marina of the Year Award. White Bay 6 Marine Park / Sydney Harbour Boat Storage won the category of ‘Boat Yard – Under 20 Boats' and was announced as a finalist in the ‘Dry Stack Storage Facility' Award. Their customer service manager Ludovica ‘Elle' Perna, was announced as a finalist in the ‘Marina Employee of the Year' award.
