Shortlist announced for Boat Builder Awards 2023 - the ultimate recognition of excellence in the yacht manufacturing sector. A total of 36 companies and individuals from 14 countries have been named as potential winners for this year's Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement 2023, in association with Raymarine.

Final decisions were made by an international panel of ten subject matter experts from an initial selection of 90 very high-quality entries across eleven categories. The judges shortlisted 33 nominations and additionally identified who would receive this year's Lifetime Achievement and Rising Star awards during a spectacular gala dinner at Amsterdam's historic Maritime Museum on Thursday 16 November. Sail America is pleased to announce this year's Annapolis Boat Show's "Best in Show" awards in different categories. The awards were presented at the annual Industry Meeting on October 13th at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel in Annapolis, Maryland, as part to of the US Sailboat Show. The breakfast meeting brought together over 100 sailing industry professionals and was sponsored by Annapolis Boat Shows. In addition to the Best in Show awards, the agenda included presentations on Sail America initiatives, and the Sail America Industry Conference.

Taking place November 1st from 2-4p.m. EST, the fifth webinar will be Navigating Compliance in the Age of Evolving Technology. MarineMax has announced their new location, MarineMax Jupiter and MarineMax Palm Beach Service Center. Located in Jupiter, Florida's vibrant and boating-rich town, this location will be a premier destination for boaters and enthusiasts along the East Coast of Florida. Scout Boats, Inc. is further expanding its Summerville, South Carolina manufacturing headquarters with various marque projects across its campus. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held November 1st, onsite at 130 Spaniel Lane in Summerville. Scout plans to enlarge its current 36-acre campus with a new 37,500 sq. ft. facility (Plant E), which will allow the company to build component parts for its yacht division and support the production of its newest flagship, the 67 LX series, a 67' model that will be one of the largest outboard-powered sportfishing yachts built in the world.

The 67 LX Series project, comprised of three unique models, was announced to the marine industry at this year's Miami International Boat Show in February. Plant E, Scout's fifth main manufacturing building, is expected to be completed in summer 2024. The company is also simultaneously expanding and renovating its current front offices located at 2531 Highway 78 West in Summerville. Plans include a new front office structure complete with offices and a new dining area/cafeteria for employees. Renovations are expected to be complete by spring 2024.

FarSounder and NSSLGlobal have joined forces to introduce FarSounder's Argos product line to their defence, commercial, and leisure clients. These innovative Forward-Looking Sonars (FLS) are used for safe navigation and obstacle avoidance. FarSounder's technology is renowned in the cruise and leisure markets and is increasingly being adopted in both the Scientific/Exploration and Defence sectors both of which are moving towards Unmanned Surface Vessels. Vessels are often operating in more challenging environments such as higher latitudes where there may be ice, poorly charted areas, or austere ports. This unique patented technology paints a clear picture of what lies ahead underwater of the vessel, reducing the likelihood of collisions, which in turn prevents costly damage to property, the environment, and marine and human lives alike.

Scania, one of the world's leading manufacturers of engines for boats, trucks, buses and industrial applications, showcased its new marine hybrid solution at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show - the E-Machine. A new innovation in alternative propulsion, the E-Machine is a compact, modular, yet powerful solution with propulsion, inverter and power control unit integrated into a single system. Depending on the application, the E-Machine can be mated to a Scania combustion engine for hybrid propulsion or directly to a gearbox for a fully electric system.

The modular design allows for Scania to supply the necessary system components to meet the needs of almost any sized vessel. A single-source solution for boat builders, Scania supplies everything with the electric power system allowing all components to work seamlessly together. Additionally, the system management interface and mechanical interface - CAN J1939 and SAE 1 - simplifies integration with external components for easy installation, maintenance and use.

IMTRA, the leading manufacturer and importer of quality solutions and products for the marine, energy and transportation markets, announced today the introduction of the new Sleipner Electric Vector FinsTM any speed stabilization system.
