Dear Recipient Name

As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, there is renewed momentum to invest in America's infrastructure and celebrate the outdoor experiences that connect families and communities. Following President Trump's State of the Union address, the recreational boating industry is encouraged by the administration's continued focus on economic growth, American manufacturing and policies that support working families and small businesses.

As highlighted during the President's remarks, the passage and implementation of the "One Big Beautiful Bill" marks an important step toward strengthening the nation's economic foundation. For the recreational boating industry — a uniquely American sector where 95 percent of boats sold in the United States are made in the United States and 93 percent of boat builders are small businesses — a pro-growth tax policy is essential to long-term success.

The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index February reading offered a mixed but instructive snapshot of the American consumer. The overall index edged up 2.2 points to 91.2, a modest improvement from January's revised 89.0, but the details matter more than the headline, particularly for discretionary sectors such as boating. The Present Situation Index fell 1.8 points to 120, indicating consumers feel slightly worse about current conditions than in January. The Expectations Index rose to 72. While directionally welcome, it remains below 80 for the 13th consecutive month, a level economists often associate with recession risk. Consumers continue to feel uneasy about the direction of the economy over the next six months, and that uncertainty can temper willingness to spend on discretionary purchases.

After one of the most severe winters in recent years, March will bless harbors and communities across the United States with a month of benign conditions, at least as they relate to so-called "sunny day" flooding. NOAA is predicting that such coastal flooding is possible in only five harbors across the entire country: Boston, Massachusetts; Kings Point, NY; Galveston Bay, Texas; South Beach, Oregon; and Toke Point, Washington. While higher high tides (and lower low tides) can be expected on and around the full moon on March 3 and the new moon on March 18, most harbors are not forecast to experience flooding during these periods. As always, if a storm happens to occur around these high-water days, known as spring tides, it may lead to increased coastal erosion and flooding.
