More than 100 first-timers tried watersports in Rhyl as part of national campaign Push the Boat Out day.

Taking part in the national campaign has boosted interest in membership at Rhyl Yacht Club with many new applications to join and sail regularly.

Push the Boat Out Day was run at yacht clubs all round the UK, with the aim to encourage people to try sailing.

"We had a fantastic weekend, kind weather and a lot of new sailors," said Rhyl YC event organiser Ally Evans.

"In all we did an amazing 126 taster sessions for adults and youths. This has turned into a lot of new interest and applications for new members.

"Ultimately this weekend has encouraged a lot of new sailors on to the water, with some already attending since then.

"We are fortunate to have a great group of dedicated volunteers who commit to providing these type of events. It was certainly a big success."
