AIMEX announces appointment of new Chief Executive

by Lhamo Johnson 28 Jan 2018 22:48 PST

AIMEX Chairman Richard Chapman announced today that Doug Jarvis has been appointed CEO of AIMEX and will take over from Ms Maryanne Edwards who is joining the board of AIMEX.

Chapman said, "Doug brings a wealth of experience and desirable skills. He has a broad knowledge of the marine industry, an extensive professional network and a reputation for developing mutually beneficial corporate partnerships".

Doug has enjoyed a diverse career that spans private and public sectors. After a lengthy period in the building supply/hardware industry, where he held senior sales, marketing and proprietary roles, Doug started his own consultancy, Rhumbline Marketing.

Specialising in corporate navigation and events, the multi award winning practice attracted a diversified clientele and a wide range of consultancy projects - predominantly related to the marine industry - including event management of Australia's largest sailing event (Skandia Geelong Week/Audi Victoria Week). At its peak the Victorian hallmark event attracted over 100,000 visitors and generated an economic impact in excess of $15m per annum.

Doug then took on the position of Waterways Manager in Melbourne's transitioning Docklands. Responsibilities included strategic development of the urban waterway and day to day management of Melbourne Superyacht Marina and Melbourne City Marina.

He is a recipient of Yachting Australia's prestigious Services to Yachting Award, several national event management awards and was previously named an Inspirational Leader by the Association of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions (MICE).

Founding member and past Chairman Alistair Murray commented "I have known Doug for twenty years. He is a passionate and committed individual. He had a vision for Geelong's historic regatta and oversaw an amazing transition, setting a benchmark for all others to chase."
