Charter Boat Business awarded regions best of the best

On Friday night (25/05/2018) the NSW Business Chamber announced that the prestigious Regional Business of the Year award went to Sydney based charter boat agency Any Boat.

The award is the gold medal award presented to the best of the best amongst award winners, and Any Boat won the top prize after also being the first business ever to win Excellence In Small Business two years in a row and Excellence in Workplace Inclusion.

40 year old Founder and Managing Director of Any Boat, Daniel Da Silva was elated to hear the name of his business announced and proudly accepted the awards on behalf of the team.

"To think that of all the businesses that entered, a charter boat agency in Lavender Bay won three awards and was the first business ever to win the Small Business Excellence award two years in a row, and take out Regional Business of The Year is mind boggling" said Mr Da Silva.

"The marine industry is a critical part of Sydney's economy and culture and as proud as I am to have won the three awards, I am even more proud to be shining light on an industry that I love so much" Daniel Said.

When asked what the key was to winning such a prestigious award Daniel replied, "You have to love what you do, and I am so in love with the marine industry and Sydney Harbour in general that for me, it doesn't even feel like work most of the time."

Daniel also entered the highly contested Business Leader category in which he was a finalist.

Newly appointed General Manager, Gilbert Gedeon has watched Daniel lead the business through rapid growth over the last few years as it diversified into different areas of the marine sector.

"I saw Any Boat start out as a backyard charter boat agency, then start acquiring well known boats, to then acquiring the yacht charter business Sailcorp and it's small fleet of yachts, along with running 40 swing moorings in Lavender Bay" Said Mr Gedeon.

"We have our fingers in a lot of pie's and Daniel has a big vision for the charter industry in Australia with some unique projects underway including a new concept for a charter boat" Said Mr Gedeon.

Any Boat will now progress to the NSW Business Chamber State Awards to be held on Friday 23rd November at Luna Park.

The Excellence in Small Business award recognises a business, employing less than 20 that has attained significant growth and is able to demonstrate the specific strategies and processes implemented to achieve sustainable growth in the previous 24 months.

The Excellence in Workplace Inclusion award recognises businesses that address the needs of a diverse community, including seniors, people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, and people with disability. An inclusive business facilitates the needs of all its employees and customers.
