Empire Marina Bobbin Head (EMBH) in Sydney has been awarded Platinum accreditation under the Global Gold Anchor Scheme. This is the highest possible level of Gold Anchor accreditation. The marina is the first marina in Australia to be platinum accredited and is only one of three in the world accredited to date at this level. The award was presented by Andrew Chapman, Chairman of the Marina Industries Association to Marina Directors Darren Vaux and John Lawler at a ceremony at the marina attended by government, industry and marina customers.

Empire Marina Bobbin Head is a 200 berth marina in the pristine Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park in northern Sydney. The Marina has twice won Australian Marina of the Year and has been inducted into the Australian Marina Hall of Fame. Compared with the two other platinum marinas EMBH may be considered a boutique marina. Like a high end boutique hotel in a unique location, the marina provides high quality facilities with highly personalised and professional personal services.

Andrew Chapman said "The International Gold Anchor rating system is designed to provide boat owners and marina users with an easy reference system similar to the Hotel star rating scheme." "Gold Anchor marinas are independently assessed against a specialised points based criteria covering 100 different elements of marina facilities and services. To be accredited as 5 Gold Anchor Platinum the marina has to achieve an overall score over 95% across all areas of assessment. It is an outstanding achievement and commitment from EMBH to perform at this level." he said.

Darren Vaux, Director of Empire Marinas, said "This achievement has taken an enormous effort and commitment from the whole marina team in striving for excellence is all areas of our business. They consistently deliver the highest level of service to our valued customers and the continuous validation under the Gold Anchor program will impose the discipline on us to keep us at the top of our game and to strive for constant improvement. I would encourage all of my colleagues in the marina industry to challenge themselves in the same way."
