Marinas to 2030 Key Theme at Marinas19

Marinas19 International Conference and Trade Exhibition will examine the big questions for marinas to 2030. What is the future of boat ownership and marina customers? What are the risks and opportunities associated with changes in technology enabled consumer behaviour? What are the risks and opportunities associated with changes in the interaction of climate change, propulsion technologies, government regulation and consumer expectations?
Darren Vaux, MIA Vice Chairman and Executive Committee Member of the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) will lead discussion on these key questions. According to Darren "single owner boat ownership has been a behavior of the baby boomer generation. Globally the average age of registered boats and their owners continue to grow. The generations that follow are time poor, mobile and technology enabled. Marinas of the future will need to deliver a broader experience beyond just boat storage and become part of the total lifestyle."
A range of tested options for boating without the encumbrance of boat ownership will be discussed by an international panel. 'Marinas and the connectivity of things' will be discussed by John Meehan, Managing Director of VRT Systems. John has driven a consistent culture of innovation and disruption across all business areas including sensors, control and information systems, 'internet of things'(IoT) devices platforms and services; and Master Systems Integrator (MSI) services. The role of drones in marina operations and marketing will be discussed by Ross Meadows, Managing Director, Media Booth Australia & Pro Flight and Björn Säljö, Head of Volvo Penta Oceania will present and lead discussion on the topic of automation, connectivity and electrification in boating and the implications for future marina design and operations.
MIA Chairman Andrew Chapman said "the conference program at Marinas19 is bringing together lead speakers from across the globe to discuss the big topics that will increasingly impact on marinas going forward.
