The Marina Industries Association (MIA) is pleased to announce that following an agreement last year with the Marine Recreation Association (MRA) based on the West Coast USA, to deliver the Global Gold Anchor program in North America, the Village West Marina & Resort located on the Bay Delta in Stockton, California has been awarded 5 Gold Anchors.

Nestled in a well-protected, man-made basin in the heart of Northern California's Delta, Village West Marina has a charming, boutique feel yet has over 700, mostly covered, berths and a vast range of fantastic on shore facilities including a fuel dock, a dockside convenience store, two of the Delta's finest restaurants, a service and detail facility, and a yacht sales office, as well as necessities such as clean showers, heated and cooled restrooms, and laundry facilities. The marina and facilities are well maintained, and the service is excellent. Village West Marina is more than a marina, it is an exceptional destination for fishing and boating enthusiasts.

Prior to formalising the partnership with the MRA, two other Californian marinas were accredited by the MIA, these being Westpoint Harbor Marina San Francisco and Safe Harbor Cabrillo Isle San Diego. Andrew Chapman, MIA President noted, "The origins of this global program go back as far as 1988 when the UK's The Yacht Harbour Association first started a program. The MIA introduced a similar program in the early 2000s and the two were later blended to form the Global Gold Anchor Program we have today. We currently have over 200 marinas accredited across 27 countries and we are now delighted to be working with the MRA to grow participation in the USA. The 5 Gold Anchor accreditation is one of the highest accolades that the industry awards and is reserved for marinas which offer their customers consistently high standards of service and facilities and we are proud to make this award to Village West Marina."

With continued border restrictions, the MIA was unable to send a representative to the presentation, so the award was presented to Village West Marina owner Aaron Pellaerin. In accepting the award, Mr Pellarin said, "This award is recognition of our team's hard work, care, and dedication to excellence over the years. We are extremely proud to be amongst the finest marinas in the world and we look forward to hosting boaters from around the world looking for a first-class experience."

Subject to travel restrictions, the MRA in association with the MIA hope to accredit a further 20 marinas as Gold Anchor marinas before the end of the year.
