Legendary Italian shipyard Fratelli Aprea Sorrento 1890, crafters of artisanal "gozzo" style boats, announced today their New England debut at the Newport International Boat Show, September 14-17, in Newport, Rhode Island.

Founded in 1890 by Cataldo Aprea, Fratelli Aprea is now in its sixth generation of family craftsmen, and are renowned internationally for their bespoke luxury boats. Today, the Aprea brothers' work honors the family's history while looking to the future. Every boat is designed and built according to the techniques and traditions of their storied past.

Arriving in Newport next week is the Sorrento 32 Hard Top, a model whose proven and beautiful design combines timeless elegance with legendary seakeeping performance. Ideally suited for cruising in the most sophisticated waters of North America, it has a stunning mahogany and teak interior, with spaces optimized for maximum comfort. Noteworthy features of the Sorrento 32 include a fiberglass hull, spacious forward stateroom, AC, shower, Corian counters throughout, bow thruster, SureShade, twin Volvo Penta D4-320's, premium electronics, and more.

Also on display will be the Sorrento 36 Hard Top, which captures a refined gracefulness, and the desire to travel. Below deck is spacious and welcoming with open rooms for people to gather. Its massive, hand-laid teak deck is embellished with mahogany brightwork, calling to mind the timeless tradition of Italian boating while mirroring the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea. Amenities include a forward owner's stateroom, guest stateroom with twin beds, full height head with shower, custom countertops, hand hammered sinks, a galley with high-end appliances, and a convertible salon table with custom cushions for additional overnight guests.

Evolving from a centuries-old Italian fishing boat, the traditional gozzo features a rounded stern and dramatically flared bow, with an undeniable reputation for rock-solid stability and fine craftsmanship. Today, as always, Fratelli Aprea boats are crafted by the hands of artisans with the highest attention to detail.

"The history of our brand, this family, and our respect for tradition is the perfect complement to the profound nautical history of Newport," said M.A. Sinacola II, President, Fratelli Aprea USA. "We are thrilled to be bringing our life's work to such a historical maritime city, and the opportunity to share the heritage and tradition that makes our vessels the finest in the world. We look forward to engaging with individual clients and strategic retail partners who appreciate and share the values of our brand."

The Sorrento 32-foot and 36-foot Hard Tops have an as-built price of $820,000 and $1.2 million, respectively. The vessels will be on display at Dock M-10 N at the Newport International Boat Show.
