Nicolas Fry joins Hill Robinson as Head of Charter Management

With 10 years' experience in charter management, Nicolas will be an asset to the Hill Robinson team.

An avid sailor since youth, Nicolas Fry was always drawn to beautiful boats. It took him a while, however, to find his way into the yachting industry, having initially worked in marketing for the start of his professional life. Nicolas had a fortuitous nudge into yachting, however, when his father bought a 25m Tréhard sailing yacht from 1991 called DJANGO TOO and asked him to help market and manage charters on board.

Nicolas consequently spent several years moving around different sectors of the industry, working as a charter broker, yacht manager, crew manager and charter manager, as well as a stint as a crewmember. "The more I worked with captains, the more I felt the need to learn about the life at sea," he reflects.

Nicolas spent six months getting his captain licence and, in May 2012, joined a sailing yacht as steward for the charter season in the Mediterranean. "It was a great experience where everything came together and gave sense to all that I had learned before," he adds.

This combined experience created the perfect blend of knowledge for Nicolas to be a successful charter manager, supporting owners and crew and understanding all their needs and challenges. He began a career in charter management in 2013 at a reputable yachting company where he was responsible for building the charter reputation of some of the world's most iconic yachts. Nicolas has since had extensive experience managing large charter fleets and leading teams of charter managers at other established yachting brands.

Hill Robinson is delighted to welcome Nicolas as Head of Charter Management. "I will continue growing Hill Robinson's strong fleet and promoting charter experiences for clients to enjoy the richness of the seven seas," comments Nicolas.

Admiration and respect for the ocean will remain a core part of Nicolas' values. Actively supporting a sustainable yachting industry by working with different associations and taking specific actions for the yachts within his fleet, Nicolas has participated three times in Blue Marine Foundation's London to Monaco annual cycle ride that has raised more than €2,000,000 for ocean conservation projects.

As Nicolas concludes, "I strive to show my children and my friends that I am an active participant in affecting change, and that it can be accomplished by coming together and setting off on great adventures while respecting our most important common asset: the ocean."
