Auckland's home of Haines Hunter will be boosted by a new alliance with powerboat specialists Trev Terry Marine. Trev Terry, which has branches throughout the North and South Islands, has formed the alliance with the iconic brand to run its retail operation, Haines Hunter HQ, in Ellerslie, Auckland.

Haines Hunter is one of New Zealand's iconic marine brands. The company began as SeaCraft in 1946 and has produced a hugely popular range of fibreglass family and fishing boats under the Haines Hunter brand for 40 years. Trev Terry is also a longstanding family business, which has been undergoing a period of growth and diversification in recent years, to position the company as one of the country's leading retailers of new and used recreational trailer-boat, personal watercraft, and marine accessories.

Brock Terry, one of the owners and Managing Director of Trev Terry Marine, says the new strategic alliance with Haines Hunter builds on the longstanding relationship with the manufacturer.

"Ever since I was a kid, I've been involved with our family business, picking up Haines Hunter boats for dealerships and seeing them going to happy customers," he says. "Haines Hunters are well known for the quality of their ride and their high standard of construction. You can go anywhere in the country and say you've got a Haines Hunter, and people will know that's a good boat."

Trev Terry Marine will run the Haines Hunter HQ showroom at 50 Cawley St, Ellerslie, next to the factory, and manage new boat sales. Haines Hunter CEO Denis Kendall says joining forces with Trev Terry Marine in this way will enable him to concentrate on manufacturing the boats and working closely with the dealer network, knowing the retail operation is in good hands.

"We have had a long relationship with Trev Terry — they provide a quality service, which is what we do too, so we are coming from the same place," Kendall says. "With this new alliance, Haines Hunter HQ will expand beyond just selling the boats to cover marine accessories and other products, so owners will be able to find everything they need in one place."

The connection with Haines Hunter comes after a period of growth for Trev Terry in 2023, which has seen the company expand from its core businesses in Taupo, Turangi, and Kinloch to go on to proudly acquire dealerships in Napier, Wanaka, and Invercargill.

"We're seeing a real rise in family boating, and we can definitely see an opportunity to grow our business around New Zealand," Terry says. "Having this alliance with Haines Hunter in Auckland will give us another great opportunity to expand our retail presence to the biggest city in the country and continue to deliver an exceptional customer experience."
