Vandal Marine BV, headquartered in the Netherlands, has a longstanding relationship with the directors of BMComposites and appointed the company as its agent in Spain in light of their industry positioning and reputation for excellence.
"Ben Mennem and I have been friends for nearly 30 years now, having successfully worked together in various sectors of the industry. I am delighted to announce this collaboration with Vandal as exclusive agents for Spain and the Balearic Islands. We hope to build upon the solid foundations of this exciting new brand and offer something truly exceptional with some of the best designers, naval architects and builders in the business. The team at Vandal have dared to go outside the box with this foil assisted explorer vessel and we believe it has a very bright future. With several models in build and more on the design table, the Vandal offers vast amounts of space, high performance, security, fun and above all adventure, and that's exactly what it's designed for!" - Luke Hendy, Director, BMComposites
The Vandal Explorer is an all-aluminium 14m tender or standalone adventure boat that boasts impressive credentials. Designed by Espen diameterino, this rugged Land Rover of the seas places the focus on space and practicality rather than superfluous frills, and the boat's go-anywhere, do-anything ability is to be admired.
The Vandal Explorer was dreamed up by diameterino and Vandal Marine co-founder Ben Mennem for their own use, and the first two hulls, which debuted alongside each other at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2022, were built for them. Today, there are already three 14m Vandals on the water and two further 18m models in build.
The impressive range, thanks to asymmetric hulls and foils, and exceptional performance even in rough seas, means a Vandal can take runs from Marseille to Mallorca, or Mahon to northern Sardinia in her stride, achieving a top speed of 43 knots.
Catamaran hulls are highly efficient by design with very little bow rise making for an excellent field of view at all speeds. When paired with a foil, efficiency is improved further still. Twin engines give a total of 850 horsepower. At 18 knots, the boat gets onto a plane and the foil kicks into action, lifting the two hulls 30 to 40 centimetres. That means 35 per cent of the boat is lifted out of the water.
Designed to function as a weekend runabout, fishing boat, dive boat, superyacht chase boat or expedition tender, the customisable Vandal Explorer has a six-person dining setup, a double cabin, interior head and shower compartment, galley unit, and plenty of seating.
Vandal Explorers are built with adventurers in mind, systems are simple and reliable, and the boat is overbuilt for a lifetime of service.
"Myself and the Vandal team are really excited to launch Vandal in Spain with Luke, Mark and the BMComposites team! We believe that we have an exciting product, ideally suited to the Balearics, mainland Spain and the rest of the Mediterranean coast. Together with BMComposites we see a super strong partnership. During our discussions, we have really appreciated the positive and "can do" attitude they have shown, which fits in perfectly with the Vandal spirit of adventure and no boundaries! We look forward to welcoming everyone on board the Vandal Explorer during the Palma International Boat Show." - Ben Mennem (Founder, Vandal Marine)
