Norwegian marine tech startup, Orca, announces the launch of Automatic Rerouting for Sail Routes, a groundbreaking enhancement to its acclaimed Sail Routes feature.

Introduced in 2023, Sail Routes captured the attention of the sailing community for its intuitive planning capabilities. Recognising the dynamic nature of sailing, Orca sought to further empower sailors with the ability to seamlessly adapt their routes in real-time.

With immediate effect Orca users will see the introduction of Automatic Rerouting navigation capability in the Sail Routes function, offering sailors a smarter, more responsive approach to charting their course. Unlike traditional route planning tools, Orca's Automatic Rerouting actively monitors sailing progress and adjusts routes in response to deviations or changing weather conditions.

Key features of Automatic Rerouting include:

  • Real-Time Adaptation: Orca continuously monitors sailing progress and updates routes accordingly, ensuring alignment with the current sailing conditions.
  • Dynamic Route Optimisation: The system intelligently recalculates routes based on deviations or changing weather forecasts, optimising the sailing experience.
  • Seamless Integration: Automatic Rerouting seamlessly integrates with Orca's existing Sail Routes feature, providing users with a cohesive navigation experience.

Powered by Orca Core, a groundbreaking sailing processor, Automatic Rerouting delivers unparalleled accuracy and reliability in route adjustments. Whether responding to sudden weather changes or spontaneous tacking manoeuvres, sailors can trust Orca to navigate them safely to their destination.

Launched in 2021, Orca is a modern navigation system for sailboats and powerboats. Originally, Orca offered coverage for the Nordics and northern Europe, quickly meeting demands to cover most of Europe, the U.S. and New Zealand, with plans to add complete global coverage in development.

Orca's navigation system consists of the Orca mobile application, Orca Display 2, and recently launched Orca Core 2, offering powerful navigation on the water, with features including instruments and autopilot control via tablets and smartphones. The marine-grade Orca Display 2 delivers incredible brightness and robustness and has been designed for boaters who want to navigate with ease and confidence.

The Orca app is free to download from the Apple AppStore and Google PlayStore. The modern app has received widespread praise and a global rating of 4.5/5 in the Google PlayStore.

Automatic Rerouting for Sail Routes is now available to Orca users, offering a transformative upgrade to the sailing navigation experience. To learn more about Orca and its cutting-edge features, visit here.
