NMMA's 2023 Outboard Engine Sales Report highlights complex, positive movement

The latest sales trends report for outboard engines, part of NMMA's 2023 U.S. Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract, is now available for download. This section provides an overview of U.S. outboard engine retail market trends, including a deep historical view that helps with building future insights.

The U.S. outboard engine retail market in 2023 presented a complex yet largely positive picture with a growing appetite for higher-performance engines. The 300hp and greater segments registered a nearly 18% increase and the 250-299.9hp segment also showed an uptick.

The latest report in the 2023 Abstract highlights shifts in consumer preferences and reflects the market's elasticity in adapting to new demands and prevailing economic conditions. Regionally, the South Atlantic, Great Lakes, and Gulf Coast maintained their market stronghold, despite slight variations in unit sales.
