The Sydney International Boat Show, held 1-4 August at the iconic Darling Harbour, will play host to a stunning line-up of global, Asia-Pacific and Australian launches and premieres.

The four-day Show will bring to life the Sydney International Convention Centre and Cockle Bay Marina with many debuts across the 600+ boats and a myriad of marine, boating and fishing products, alongside an array of entertainment and educational masterclasses.

Boating Industry Association Ltd (BIA) President, Adam Smith said the Show has become an influential and important platform for the marine industry, with many Asia-Pacific and international companies opting to use the Sydney International Boat Show as a platform to unveil new products and vessels.

In New Zealand, the NZMOA Marinas and Boatyard Conference is open to NZMOA full members, associate members, and non-members. This year's event at Parliament House in Wellington promises to be a very special one. Keynote speakers include a great list of knowledgable professionals.

In Europe, the closely contested DAME Design Awards at METSTRADE for leisure marine equipment is now open for nominations with entrants directly contributing to providing better water sports holidays and experiences for people with disabilities through Dutch charity SailWise.

Across its 33 editions the DAME has achieved unrivalled recognition in the global marine equipment sector for encouraging excellent end-to-end design practices that make boating more accessible, pleasurable, and sustainable for the industry's customers. Its roll call of winners and nominees include many products from small businesses to large companies that have influenced the development of the whole marine equipment sector.

On 17-19 June, the Beneteau International Dealers Meeting was held in Nantes and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, France. This was a significant event that brought together Beneteau's global dealer network to celebrate the company's 140th anniversary. Beneteau boasts one of the largest exclusive dealer networks in the world. Dealers all meet the strict service requirements implemented and managed by Beneteau and are delighted to provide our customers with professional advice and services.

In Queensland, BIA's Andrew Fielding was invited by the Queensland Premier to Community Cabinet at Bribie Island on 3 July and was given the opportunity to meet with the Minister for Small Business, Training and Education, The Hon Lance McCallum MP. The BIA's advocacy and support of the marine industry and small business as well as the ongoing work in jobs, skills and training were discussed at length. The support of the Queensland Government and local councils are vital in ensuring the future success of the marine sector, recognised as a major contributor to the economy.

While electric propulsion dominates the news, traditional propulsion units are evolving. Cox Marine is proud to announce that the latest addition to its product line up, the 350 V8, a 350hp variant of its V8 diesel outboard architecture has successfully achieved EPA Tier III approval for commercial and recreational applications. The certification allows the British outboard and diesel pioneer to open its order book in anticipation of production commencing in August.

Rebuilding reefs is a specialist area of conservation, and one that Reef Design Labs has honed to a fine, sculptural art. Reef Design Labs, led by Director and industrial designer, Alex Goad, design, prototype and manufacture unique coastal solutions to restore reefs and protect shorelines. Formed in 2015, the Melbourne-based team of designers, architects, engineers and fabricators shares a love for the marine environment and is dedicated to the art of designing and making habitat solutions that respond to current environmental issues in partnership with university researchers and marine ecologists.

And industry optimism abounds. "The future is bright for PRESTIGE luxury motor yachts in Australia," according to TMG Yachts co-founder John Cowpe. On the occasion of the Asia Pacific dealers meeting in Hong Kong, TMG Yachts was honoured to be named by the global powerhouse as their Dealer of the Year. Recognized for their communication, content creation, and overall commitment to building the brand in the region, Cowpe commented, "This is one of the biggest and most exciting challenges before us at TMG Yachts."

Stay committed,
