JR Yachts has presented the LUMEN E10 at the Royal Yacht Club in Muiden. This all-electric ten-meter-long boat is a true innovation on the water. Specially designed to cover long distances on the water as silently as possible, the LUMEN E10 is the result of 5 years of meticulous research.

This sets the LUMEN apart from other electric boats, where the elimination of the combustion engine means that many other sources of noise can often be heard. With the iconic upper hull - designed by Mulder Design - and efficient underwater hull, designed by Jaap de Jonge of JR Yachts, the LUMEN E10 offers a range of 100 to 160 kilometers at a cruising speed of 13km/h. It is even possible to water ski or wakeboard silently behind the LUMEN at speeds of 30-35km/h. The spacious cockpit, sun bed and swimming platform offer a special experience for lovers of elegance and class. Thus, one experiences the true peace and quiet of sailing, with the convenience of a motor boat.

Imagine gliding smoothly across the surface of the water, surrounded by silence, interrupted only by the gentle ripple of the waves. No roaring engines, but the feeling of floating, free of worries and restrictions - that is the essence of electric boating at its best. And that's exactly what JR Yachts wants to offer its customers with the new LUMEN E10, at a time when electric boating is becoming increasingly important in big cities and natural areas. Where other electric boats replace only the main engine, the LUMEN E10 is the only boat where years of research have eliminated all noise. For example, the boat has no parts that produce ancillary noise - such as an impeller pump or motor-gearing - and propellers are also designed to produce as little noise as possible. The LUMEN E10 also stands out in terms of ease of use, with a steering system that responds just as it does in a car. This makes the boat easy to steer and easy to moor even without any boating experience.

Innovation below the surface

With the LUMEN E10, designed for a higher segment, JR Yachts sets a new label on the market. The hull shape underwater is the basis of the boat and specially designed for electric gliding on the water. Waterline length and hull shape play a crucial role in a boat's performance and behavior in the water. "A streamlined hull shape with minimal drag is one of the best ways to improve energy efficiency. This allows you to sail farther on a single charge, which is especially instrumental in optimizing range. With an efficient hull shape, you can spend more time on the water and less time at the charging station. "The above-water design is sleek, modern and minimalist, synchronizing perfectly with the hull," said Jaap de Jonge, director of JR Yachts and designer of the LUMEN E10.

Wide range and durable materials

Besides hull shape, other important aspects that affect the performance of an electric boat are the manufacturing process, the right motor, battery, material and weight. These are the building blocks for a smooth, quiet and, above all, efficient boating experience. In terms of materials, one of the materials used in the LUMEN E10 is vinylester. In combination with the vacuum infused sandwich construction, the hull can be built 50% lighter than comparable hulls in aluminum or polyester. Vinylester can also be combined with a hard gel coat. This makes the construction durable and resistant to wear, tear, osmosis and impact, minimizing maintenance and operational costs. "Thanks in part to its light weight, the LUMEN E10 has a wide range of 100 to 160 kilometers on just one battery charge at a speed of 13 mph," he said. "This gives a lot of freedom: you can sail all day carefree knowing that there is enough power to enjoy the peace and beauty of the water with the certainty that you can cover sufficient distance," says De Jonge.

Back to the essence

The introduction of the LUMEN E10 marks a milestone in sustainable cruising on the water. "We have gone back to the essence of cruising: peace, freedom and relaxation," says Jaap de Jonge. "Everything is focused on the cruise itself: experiencing nature in silence and luxury. All systems, such as the steering wheel, joystick and fully integrated dashboard, are designed for intuitive and effortless control under all conditions," says De Jonge.

As an introduction, the LUMEN E10 is going on both a Dutch and international tour. In

The Netherlands, with a nod to its Frisian roots, an Elfstedent tour through the most beautiful wetlands of the Netherlands is planned. After that, the international tour will start in Switzerland, Italy, and southern France. The full tour program can be found at lumenyachts.com
