Kinsale Yacht Club Gears Up for Sovereign's Cup 2025

by Michael O'Sullivan 6 Oct 2024 03:04 PDT 25-28 June 2025

Kinsale Yacht Club has officially launched its campaign to attract a world-class fleet to the 2025 Sovereign's Cup, promising an unforgettable four-day event.

Set to run from Wednesday, June 25th to Saturday, June 28th, this prestigious regatta will also host the ICRA Nationals under the expert direction of renowned PRO Anthony O'Leary and a very strong race management team.

A fresh twist for 2025 includes an afternoon start on the opening day to accommodate late arrivals, followed by early starts for the remaining days, maximizing racing opportunities.

The club is committed to providing a fair test of sailing skill for all abilities, with course configuration sufficiently varied to give all well sailed boats an equal chance to excel. There will be a balanced mix of windward/leeward, round the cans and coastal race courses, making the very best of the wonderful sailing area available, and incorporating the Sovereign Islands and Old Head whenever possible.

Acknowledging the need to match great racing with an equally lively social program ashore, work is already under way to make sure that this event ticks all the boxes on the social side also.

Todays communication is the first of a series, with future updates to provide more details on what looks set to be an unmissable event!

Notice of Race and online registration will be available very soon.
