The U.S. Department of Commerce this week opened the second round of its inclusion process for its Section 232 investigation into imports of aluminum and steel derivative products. The notice - which is set to be published in the Federal Register today (Sept. 17) - allows for inclusion requests to be filed by September 29. NMMA will closely monitor the inclusion requests should any imported marine part, component, or product be impacted - which could result in a 50% tariff on the metal content.

Following the September 29 deadline, interested parties will have two weeks to submit comments in response to inclusion requests that have been accepted by the Department of Commerce.

The first inclusion process - which commenced in May - culminated with an August 18 announcement subjecting more than 400 additional HTS codes to the existing 50% tariff on imports containing steel and aluminum, including several recreational marine products.
