The third day of racing at the 52 Super Series - Porto Cervo Range Rover Sailing Week enjoyed perfect champagne sailing conditions, racing in a Mistral wind which eased back from the initial 20-22 knots.

The wind variations in pressure and direction made the competition close and interesting, requiring constant tactical decisions to be made resulting in numerous changes of position over the three races.

Just before the finish line of today's first race Sled was given a penalty for infringing Provezza. They went on to finish eleventh, their worst score of the event so far. But Takashi Okura's US flagged crew immediately bounced back to a second and then a first place finish. Going into the last two days of racing they hold a four-point advantage over Phoenix.

Phoenix's afterguard, a dream team of Australian Olympic gold medallist Tom Slingsby on tactics, and his double Olympic champion compatriot Will Ryan as strategist, highlighted their strength, today climbing the regatta standings from fourth to second place, thanks to their 5-1-4 scores today.

Scoring 6-3-7 today Andy Soriano's Alegre holds third, sailing with Paul Goodison on tactics and Pietro Sibello on strategy. The French team Paprec won the first race thanks to the excellent choice of tactician Loick Peyron, who gybed immediately at the start of the final leg, sailing downwind in clear air. Paprec is now in fourth place, just two points behind Alegre.

The third race saw the Turkish team Provezza, with "Cole" Parada calling tactics and Santiago Lange on strategy, secure an excellent second place behind Sled. Having finished seventh and sixth in the previous races, Provezza is fifth in the provisional standings.

After two excellent results, a second and a fifth place, Andrea Lacorte's Alkedo, suffered a technical breakdown early in the third race. The Italian crew quickly repaired the broken jib tack, restarting from the back of the fleet and still managing to make up a position.

The overall 2025 circuit standings still see American Magic Quantum Racing (4-10-9 today) in command, but the 41 points margin they started this final event with, ahead of Sled has shrunk to 19 points. Paprec is now in third place, with a 9.5-point advantage over fourth-place Alkedo.

Tomorrow, September 26th, racing continues at 12:00 PM CEST with light winds forecast.

The Porto Cervo event is supported by Range Rover, an institutional partner of the YCCS, reaffirming the brand's strong ties with the nautical world.

Rolex is Official Timekeeper of the 52 Super Series and an institutional partner of the YCCS.
